When are we open? - We are open Mid May to end of September. It is highly recommended that you book early to avoid disappointment during the peak season from July through end of August.

What is the cost to rent a cottage? The table below provides the cottage rental prices. Prices are in Canadian Dollars and are exclusive of the 13 % HST tax.

Is there charge for late check-out?
Late check out (i.e after 12 noon) will be charged as a day stay per cottage on the reservation credit card.
How do I find out about cottage availability and make a reservation? - Please fill-out and send the reservation request form found on the Reservations page of this web-site, or you may send an email directly to email@example.com. Be sure to provide us with your phone number so we may phone you back directly to discuss your booking and if you wish to confirm a reservation, to obtain your credit card details. Alternatively, you may call us at 613 652 6277 to discuss cottage availability and confirm your booking over the telephone. Call us during office hours 10 am to 5 pm. If no one can take your call, leave your phone number and a short message on our answering machine and we will get back to you as soon as possible or the next day.
How do I confirm my reservation? - Once we have confirmed your cottage availability we will calculate the total cost/amount payable (i.e. daily or weekly cost of cottage booked, whether or not linens are required, plus 13% Harmonized Sales Tax).
How can I pay? - We accept cash/cheque/Mastercard/Visa. We will however require a Visa and Mastercard for a pre-authorized payment and to confirm your reservation. There will be a 50% charge in case of no show or short notice cancellations. There will be extra charges for damages or if extra cleaning charge is required after your departure.
How will I receive a confirmation of my reservation? We will confirm your booking by email.
If I cancel my reservation? Please notify us of your cancellation at least 30 days before the date you were going to rent the cottage. We charge 50% in cases of 'No-Shows' or short notice cancellations. In such cases, you will be notified that your credit card has been charged. No refund will be issued if a guest checks-out early during their stay.
Our rules and policy during your stay and before checking out:
- As a courtesy to the next guest at this cottage, we expect the cottage to be left as clean and tidy as you found it (broom and cleaners are found inside your cottage)
- If cottage is left in very messy condition a fee of $50 will be charged to your card.
- We make sure that all the appliance is working before you checked in.
- We request you to let us know in advance of any broken appliance during your stay and before you check out the cottage otherwise a fee will be charged on your credit card.
- We make sure that the cottage is in good living condition before you check in.
- Please let us know of any major damaged in the cottage during your stay and before you check out otherwise, we will email you the pictures of any major damaged of the cottage and a fee will be applicable.
- Please remove all food items from the refrigerator.
- Please double-check that you have not left any personal items behind.
- Please place all garbage/recycle in the bins.
- Please close any open windows and lock the door.
- Complete any remaining payments and leave the key at the office.
What should I bring? - Our cottages come fully equipped with modern kitchens and 3/4 piece bathrooms. Each cottage has a microwave, stove or hot plate, refrigerator, toaster, coffee-maker, kettles, dishes and cooking utensils. Our bedrooms have firm mattresses and have large screened windows. Each cottage has its own deck and outside furniture, as well as a gas barbecue. There is no air conditioning in any of the cottages, however cottages have ceiling and/or portable fans. If the forecast is for very hot/humid weather, you may wish to bring additional fans from home. Electric space heaters are available upon request during the early spring and late fall months. Cottages are not equipped with TV or radios. Upon request, we can supply a small TV if you want to hook up and play DVDs using your own player. Water from taps is tested and drinkable. Bring only your clothes, swimming suits, food, drinks, fishing gear, cameras, sunscreen, bug spray, toiletries, etc. Each cottage has a small supply of basic cleaning liquids and toilet paper to get you started. It is recommended that you bring own if you are staying for a week, along with spices, salt/pepper, sugar, coffee/filters, etc. Two well appointed grocery stores and beer/liquor stores are available within 5-10 minutes drive. Are Linens Provided? - Linens (i.e sheets, pillow cases, hand and bath towels) are included at no charge on daily cottage rentals. Linens are not provided on weekly rentals. Upon request, linens may be provided on weekly rentals at an additional charge of $20/cottage.
Is there internet? We have free wireless WIFI which can be accessed at most cottages (depending on the sensitivity of your device).
Is there TV? There is TV in all the cottages. We offer an assortment of DVD's for rental.
May we have guests visit us at the cottage? Each cottage has a maximum number of persons which may be accommodated. Any person beyond that maximum number is considered a day guest and a fee of $20 per guest/day is payable. Such day guests are entitled to use the facilities at Doran Bay e.g. pool, barbeques, washrooms, canoes/kayaks, however they may not stay overnight inside your cottage if you already have the maximum number of persons permitted for your cottage.
May we bring tents or campers in order to have day guests stay overnight? Doran Bay is not yet equipped to handle large RVs or large pop-up campers. If a party renting a cottage wishes to set up a tent or small pop-up trailer/camper, we will try to accommodate such a request. Each tent/trailer will be charged $25/day. As stated previously, a day guest who sleeps in the tent/trailer will be charged $20/day. Day guests sleeping in the tent or camper are entitled to use the facilities at the cottage rented including the cottage washroom, shower, BBQ, pool, canoes/kayaks etc. It is important to note that no electrical or other services will be provided to the tent or trailer camper.
Are there laundry facilities nearby Doran Bay? There is a laundrymat behind the Stinson Gas Station on the north side of County Road 2 in the Village of Iroquois (5 minutes away by car)
What is there to do at Doran Bay? - We have a 20'X40' in-ground pool with large interlocking brick deck that has a dramatic view of the bay and river. Canoes and kayaks are available free of charge to paddle around the Bay or a couple of kilometers up Doran Creek into a beautiful nature sanctuary filled with wildlife. Enjoy an evening campfire along the shoreline with the lights of Iroquois dam and locks twinkling, and the lighted ships sailing past. Firewood may be purchased at a cost of $5/bundle. There is excellent fishing from shore, or bring your own or rent one of our fishing boats. Enjoy unforgettable vistas of beautiful St. Lawrence River where you will watch large ships sail past Doran Bay then slowly navigate through the Seaway Iroquois Lock. Take in the sights and sounds of fish jumping and migratory birds resting in the Doran Creek Provincially Significant Wetland/Fish and Migratory Bird Sanctuary. We have fantastic sunsets, especially during the autumn. Normally there is a refreshing westerly breeze, even on the hottest summer nights. Is the tap water drinkable? We recommend you bring your own drinking water.
Can I bring my boat? Certainly, we have dockage which should accommodate most boats up to a maximum of 16-18 feet. Boat dockage is free and at the owner's risk. A boat launching ramp and gas is located nearby at Iroquois Municipal Marina on the road leading to the Seaway Lock Ship Passage Outlook.
Can I bring our family pet? - We are pet friendly. Our common sense rules regarding pets will be emailed to you at time of confirmation.
Are you cyclist friendly? Yes, we have a safe place to store your cycle as well as tools for making repairs. Breakfast food can be provided on request.
