Are there any minimum stay requirements? - There is a 3 day minimum stay requirement on all cottages during long holiday weekends. We normally require a minimum 2 night stay at all our cottages during other times. However if you only need a cottage for one night, please advise us and we will try to fit you in.

How do I find out about cottage availability and make a reservation? Please fill-out and send the reservation request form found on the Reservations page of this web-site, or you may send an email directly to info@doranbayresort.com. Be sure to provide us with your phone number so we may phone you back directly to discuss your booking and obtain your credit card details. Alternatively, you may call us at 613 652 6277 to discuss cottage availability and confirm your booking.

How do I confirm my Reservation? - Once we have confirmed your cottage availability we will calculate the total cost/amount payable (i.e. daily or weekly cost of cottage booked, whether or not linens are required, plus 10% Harmonized Sales Tax). PAYMENT IN FULL IS REQUIRED TO CONFIRM YOUR RESERVATION. We will require a valid credit card number and expiry date which we keep on file with us to confirm your reservation. The credit card used at time of reservation must not be a 'chip card'so we can run it without the card being present. We accept all major credit cards (i.e. Visa, Mastercard and Amex).

How can I pay? - Given the high fees charged us by credit cards companies, we prefer cash, personal cheques, bank drafts or money orders in order to confirm your reservation. Just inform us at time of reservation how you will be paying and we will not run your credit card at time of reservation, and will hold your cottage booking for a maximum of 5 days until such time as we have received your cheque/money order in the mail or until you have dropped by with the cash payment. We will confirm to you by email or phone when payment has been received and your booking has been confirmed.

If I cancel my reservation, do I receive a refund? If you notify us of your cancellation at least 30 days before the date you were going to rent the cottage, we will issue a 50% refund. No refund will be issued in cases of 'No-Shows' or short notice cancellations i.e. a cancellation notification received less than 30 days before you were to rent the cottage. In such cases, you will be notified that your credit card has been charged or, if a 50% refund has been credited. No refund is will be issued if a guest checks-out early during their stay.

What do I bring? - Our cottages come fully equipped with modern kitchens and 3/4 piece bathrooms. Each cottage has a microwave, stove or hot plate, refrigerator, toaster, coffee-maker, kettles, dishes and cooking utensils. Our bedrooms have firm mattresses and have large screened windows. Each cottage has its own deck and outside furniture, as well as a gas barbecue. There is no air conditioning in any of the cottages, however cottages have ceiling and/or portable fans. If the forecast is for very hot/humid weather, you may wish to bring additional fans from home. Electric space heaters are available upon request during the early spring and late fall months. Cottages are not equipped with TV or radios. Upon request, we can supply a small TV if you want to hook up and play DVDs using your own player. Water from taps is tested and drinkable. Bring only your clothes, swimming suits, food, drinks, fishing gear, cameras, sunscreen, bug spray, toiletries, etc. Each cottage has a small supply of basic cleaning liquids and toilet paper to get you started. It is recommended that you bring own if you are staying for a week, along with spices, salt/pepper, sugar, coffee/filters, etc. Two well appointed grocery stores and beer/liquor stores are available within 5-10 minutes drive. Are Linens Provided? - Linens (i.e sheets, pillow cases, hand and bath towels) are included at no charge on daily cottage rentals. Linens are not provided on weekly rentals. Upon request, linens may be provided on weekly rentals at an additional charge of $20/cottage.

May we have guests visit us at the cottage? Each cottage has a maximum number of persons which may be accommodated. Any person beyond that maximum number is considered a day guest and a fee of $20 per guest/day is payable. Such day guests are entitled to use the facilities at Doran Bay e.g. pool, barbeques, washrooms, canoes/kayaks, however they may not stay overnight inside your cottage if you already have the maximum number of persons permitted for your cottage.

May we bring tents or campers in order to have day guests stay overnight? Doran Bay is not yet equipped to handle large RVs or large pop-up campers. If a party renting a cottage wishes to set up a tent or small pop-up trailer/camper, we will try to accommodate such a request. Each tent/trailer will be charged $25/day. As stated previously, a day guest who sleeps in the tent/trailer will be charged $20/day. Day guests sleeping in the tent or camper are entitled to use the facilities at the cottage rented including the cottage washroom, shower, BBQ, pool, canoes/kayaks, gazebo, etc. It is important to note that no electrical or other services will be provided to the tent or trailer camper.

Are there laundry facilities at Doran Bay? A washer and dryer is available at a cost of $5 per load.

Are there Fishing Boat Rentals? - Fishing boats are available upon request. Cost is: $50/day for a basic 12 foot aluminum fishing boat with 9.9 hp Mercury; $75 per day for 4.6 meter center-console with 40 hp Mercury. Fuel/oil mixture is additional. A refundable deposit of $200 is required at time of rental. Should a boat or outboard be damaged, the actual cost of the repair will be charged to the credit card given at time of cottage reservation. Operators must produce an Ontario Government Boat Operators License and will be provided with basic operators instruction and shown some of the best nearby fishing spots. Lifejackets must be worn while in the boat. Fishing boats come equipped with required safety equipment.

What is there to do at Doran Bay? - We have a 20'X40' in-ground pool with large interlocking brick deck that has a dramatic view of the bay and river. Canoes and kayaks are available free of charge to paddle around the Bay or a couple of kilometers up Doran Creek into a beautiful nature sanctuary filled with wildlife. Enjoy an evening campfire along the shoreline with the lights of Iroquois dam and locks twinkling, and the lighted ships sailing past. Firewood may be purchased at a cost of $5/bundle. We have a 20' X 20' screened-in gazebo which is available for use by our guests free of charge (see gazebo rental fee below for day-long group events). The gazebo is a great place for guests to have their meals or meet for social gatherings, or set up your home projector and enjoy a movie night. There is excellent fishing from shore, or bring your own or rent one of our fishing boats. Enjoy unforgettable vistas of beautiful St. Lawrence River where you will watch large ships sail past Doran Bay then slowly navigate through the Seaway Iroquois Lock. Take in the sights and sounds of fish jumping and migratory birds resting in the Doran Creek Provincially Significant Wetland/Fish and Migratory Bird Sanctuary. We have fantastic sunsets, especially during the autumn. Normally there is a refreshing westerly breeze, even on the hottest summer nights. Can I bring my boat? Certainly, we have a steel dock with approximately a 3 foot draft which should accommodate most boats up to a maximum of 16-18 feet. Boat dockage is free and at the owner's risk. A boat launching ramp and gas is located nearby at Iroquois Marina.

Can we rent the gazebo for a day in order to hold a family gathering, meeting or wedding? Certainly, please discuss with us your requirements so we can make sure your event is truly memorable. Our gazebo may be rented for such dedicated events at $100/day. We can recommend suppliers of event tents as well as local caterers.

Can I bring a Pet? - We are pet friendly. Our common sense rules regarding pets will be emailed to you at time of confirmation. A pet-sitter is available nearby.
